Big ideas, real impact.
Macro social work has long played a critical role in advancing social change, strengthening communities, shaping public policy, and responding to complex social challenges. At a time of deep social, political, and economic uncertainty, the need for bold, creative, and justice-centered macro practice has never been greater. Centered around the theme, Rebuilding the Social Contract: Policy, Power, and the Public Good, Macro United 2027 invites scholars, practitioners, students, advocates, and community leaders to share ideas, research, teaching innovations, and practice strategies that help move the field forward. We welcome proposals that challenge conventional thinking, elevate community voice, strengthen collective action, and imagine new possibilities for equitable policy and systems change.
Please complete the online form to submit your proposal to present at the Macro United 2027 conference. Proposals may take the format of a paper presentation (30 minutes), interactive workshop (60 minutes), or roundtable (60 minutes) and should explore Macro Social Work by addressing one or more of the following tracks:
Research: Research that advances understanding of policy, power, civic engagement, democratic participation, social justice, and systems change.
Teaching: Educational innovations that prepare students and practitioners to lead, organize, advocate, and advance the public good.
Practice: Policies, programs, organizational strategies, and community-based approaches that strengthen communities, expand rights, build collective power, and address today’s most pressing social challenges.
Deadline for submissions: November 13, 2026
Acceptance notices: January 30, 2027
